Barbara M. Moore started her Early Childhood education in Sacramento, California while working as a teacher in Merryhill Schools in the early 60's. After graduation in 1967 She moved to Monterey to start her own school. Through the years she has owned and directed four preschools, with after-school components in the Monterey Peninsula Area. She has kept up her education with all new preschool classes offered in the area colleges and has attended many workshops pertaining to early childhood education and the administration of preschools.
She has been a member of PACE (Professional Association of Childhood Education) for the past 35 years, holding a variety of offices in both state and regional areas. She is a member of NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children) having held offices in our regional areas, and a former member of Monterey County Family Child Care Association.
John W. Mims is our School Administrator and is from Montclaire, New Jersey. He is a graduate of both Guilford College and Michigan State University and moved to the Monterey Peninsula in 2000 where he met and married Tamara, Miss Barbara's granddaughter. They currently reside in Mionterey with their two children, Madeline and Alex. With Madeline a graduate and Alex currently attending Miss Barbara's, he feels blessed to be able to oversee the management of the school for Miss Barbara and share his day with his son.
Lori Licini has been employed with Miss Barbara's since January of 1990. She started out as the 3 year old teacher and in 1991 she moved up to the Director position and the pre-kindergarten teacher. Since 1998 she has been in the position of Administrator, working part-time, and now handles all the financial aspects of the school. She received a Bachelor of Science degree (1989) from Kent State University in Early Childhood Education with a background in business. She is First Aid and CPR certified.
Chris Aiello has been with Miss Barbara's Child Development Center since 1980. She is the director and pre- kindergarten teacher. She has over 30 units in Early Childhood Education from MPC and Hartnell. She is constantly attending conferences pertaining to Early Childhood Ed. to keep up with the ever changing field. She is involved in the C.A.R.E.S. program (Compensation And Retention Encourage Stability Program). She is also a member of the CAEYC (California Association of the Education of Young Children) and the NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children). She recently attended a conference on behavior modification techniques for young children. She is fully qualified in CPR and First Aid through the American Red Cross.
Dina Burciaga is our three year old teacher. Dina has been with Miss Barbara's since September 2007. Miss Dina teaches her class with patience and kindness. She received her Early Childhood Education units from Hartnell College and is working towards getting her A.A. degree in Early Childhood Education. She is certified in First Aid and CPR through the American Red Cross.
Margarita Ramos has a wonderful way with her 2 year old class. She has been with Miss Barbara's since September 2002. She received her units from San Jose City College and Hartnell. She is involved in the C.A.R.E.S (Compensation And Retention Encourage Stability). She attends conferences for more information and ideas to use with her two year old class. Miss Margarita is CPR and First Aid certified through the American Red Cross.
Denise Howell has been with Miss Barbara's since 1983. From 1983-1988 she was Assistant Director and worked with the children. She was a sub from 1988-1998. She currently is subbing for us and employed part-time as an assistant. She also does a great job maintaining the cleanliness of our school. She has her Early Childhood units from MPC and Gavilan College.
